What actually made this “Delhi Gang Rape” so special?

Even if it’s your father/mother/brother/relatives assault you on an individual basis or gang based, it could also be claimed as rape and it need not be always some one from outside /strangers! Then where have these protesters all gone when in Kerala, which is ought to be called “The God’s own country” has reported rape cases each day where a girl child is been raped by her own father/mother/brother/relatives. Does the fear of been getting limited media coverage made the current protesters to keep mum?
